Emotional Development

Created by a psychologist mom to help toddlers name and navigate their big feelings

What is toddler anger, really?

Toddlers don't pick fights. They get big, hot, and stuck. When Eden can't reach the popsicle and starts to scream, that's not a behavior problem. It's a two-year-old whose brain still has more feeling than words.

What settles a toddler in that moment is rarely logic. It's staying with them. I Want A Popsicle! is built for that moment. A short story that names the feeling out loud, shows a calm way through, and then gives you and your child one more page to talk about it together.

We made the book in English and Spanish so every family gets to read it the way they speak at home. Ages 2 to 5, hardcover 10 x 10, with a parental guide at the back if you want the practical side too.

frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

What age is the book best for?

This story is designed for toddlers ages 2–5. It’s simple enough for young toddlers to follow, with emotional depth that grows with them.

Do I need to speak another language to use the bilingual version?

Not at all! Each book includes both English and the second language on every page. Whether you’re fluent, learning, or just introducing your child to cultural roots, it’s easy to follow along.

Can I buy just one book, or do I have to get the bundle?

You can absolutely buy one book — but bundling both saves you 10% and gives your child tools for handling both anger (I Want A Popsicle!) and fear (The Big Slide).

Is this really written by a psychologist?

Yes! I’m a licensed psychologist and a mom. I created these stories based on strategies I use in the therapy room and what I use with my children as well!

How long does shipping take?

Orders typically ship within 2–3 business days. You’ll receive tracking info as soon as your order goes out!

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Find our Returns and Exchange policyhere

Is this a board book?

No, it's a hardcover picture book, 10 x 10 inches. The pages are sturdy enough for little hands, which matters when a toddler is in the middle of a big feeling.

What do you recommend when tantrums get bad?

Stay close and stay calm. You don't have to reason your way out of a tantrum. Get down to their level, name the feeling ("you're so mad, and that makes sense"), and ride the wave with them. If you want more structure, the parental guide at the back of the book walks through a short co-regulation routine you can practice in two minutes a day.

This is the book I originally placed the order for

This is the book I originally placed the order for. I found this story to be very easy to understand for my toddler granddaughter. We were able to discuss the concept of emotions and how it was okay to be angry without being mean. And again knowing that she was loved no matter what her emotions were.

This book is cute and colorful. It gives a nice example of patience, and the reward. I do think the price is a little high for paper pages and the age of child that it is intended to serve. I can not allow my 3 year old grandson to keep it in his book shelf because the pages will be ripped by his 18mo old brother. I prefer to buy board books so they can access them. Regardless i do like the message and the story is cute! Hopefully the author writes more and it they release them in board books.
